What began as photographs of friends became the way I stay close to people, and to wonder.

Photography has given me more than I can easily name. It has let me stand, for a little while, inside someone else’s day. I find meaning in moments that are not mine to keep, only to hold. Two people at ease. A proposal on a quiet mountain. A wedding on a ranch under aspen trees. A maker’s work seen with the same care they put into it. A view I would pin to a map if I could pin a feeling.

In the last year I have photographed brands in California, Colorado, Texas, Florida and Queensland, and I hope to keep telling those quieter business stories too. When I am not working you will find me outdoors, on the road, or with the people who matter most.

I am glad your story found its way here.

The Experience

Working with Salt & Saddle feels less like a photoshoot and more like being looked after. From the first note there is time to talk, to choose a place that already belongs to you, and to settle the small things so the day itself can stay soft. During your session you are guided - never posed into someone else. There is room to move, to laugh, to be quiet. Hayden watches the wide land and the glances in between, then sends the work home as a cinematic gallery that still feels like your day when you open it years later.

Lets Make Some Magic

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+
How do I book, and what happens next?

Please enquire through the booking form on this site. It keeps the first details in one place and answers what I need to know. I will write back about your dates, set a short call if you would like one, then send the contract and invoice through HoneyBook. You are booked once the agreement is signed and the deposit is paid. Instagram is welcome for a hello. The form is the best place to begin.

+
Do you photograph full weddings?

Yes. Full weddings, elopements, couple sessions, families, portraits and brand work are all part of the studio. Wedding collections are listed with the other packages.

+
Where are you based, and how does travel work?

I am based in Proserpine, Queensland, and usually work in Proserpine, Bowen and Airlie Beach. Travel fees apply when the drive is longer than one hour. The amount follows the distance. As a guide, Mackay is $150.

+
What is included in a typical session?

Most couple and brand sessions include 30 to 60 minutes, 40 to 150 or more images, one to three places, one to three outfits, a styling guide, help with locations, and a shareable online gallery. Galleries for couples, individuals and families are usually ready in two to three weeks.

+
How should we prepare?

Start with the styling guide. It covers clothing, hair and how to think about place. Come as yourselves. You do not need to perform. I will help with the rest.

+
What if the weather turns?

I am flexible. If we need to move the day, we find another date that is free. If you need to cancel, the first deposit of 50 percent is not refundable.

+
How long until we see the gallery, and how many images will we receive?

Couples, individuals and families are usually ready in two to three weeks. Weddings and elopements take about three to four weeks. Image counts follow the package you choose, often from 40 to 150 or more.

+
Do you shoot film, and can we have the raw files?

Most of the work is digital. Film is included in some collections and can be added to any of them. Raw files are not shared. The edit is part of the style.

+
How does investment work?

Prices are shared openly on the packages pages, and payment plans are available. A deposit of 50 percent is usual. In special cases it can be 25 percent. The balance can be paid in instalments, with the full amount due by the day of the session.

+
What should a brand know before we shoot?

No two brand days look the same. A one person business might use a few places and outfits, with a mix of studio and natural light around the work they make. Larger projects are quoted from the brief: people, products, days and places. Sometimes the kindest approach is to spend a working day with you and photograph it as it truly is.
